About You and The Role
We’re looking for an experienced and detail-oriented People Ops Generalist to join our small-but-mighty People Team in South San Francisco. In this role you’ll own two key US People programs: employee benefits and leave of absence administration.
With warmth, accuracy, and discretion you’ll support Zipliners at some of the most wonderful and challenging moments in their lives. You’ll also support the broader People Ops function by ensuring the integrity of our HRIS system, serving as a subject matter expert for our Talent and People Partner teams, and responding to employee inquiries at our People Help Desk.
This role is ideal for a strong prioritizer with exceptional organizational skills and a proven history of coordinating across teams (Talent, Legal, IT, and Payroll) in a high-trust and fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do
- Review, design, and administer Zipline’s US benefit plans (med/den/vis/life/fertility/401k) in partnership with our broker team, insurance providers, and internal stakeholders. Preference for experience managing self-insured medical plans, though not required.
- Manage Zipline’s US leaves of absence program in partnership with our third-party leave administrator and the Zipline Payroll Team to ensure accurate execution of Zipline’s leave program and leave pay. Preference for experience in managing California Voluntary Plans, though not required.
- Handle all workers' compensation claims by reviewing claims, substantiating documentation, and requesting legal counsel review when necessary
- Support our People Ops Coordinator with administrative aspects of our US onboarding program, including initial outreach, travel coordination, first-day logistics, delivering onboarding presentations, employment verification, and serving as a general resource for all new hire questions.
- Support our People Ops Coordinator with employee lifecycle changes within Zipline’s HRIS (onboarding, profile and team changes, departures, etc.) and ensure our HRIS is the accurate, single source of truth for all employee data.
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of People Ops Coordinator/Generalist experience, ideally at a fast-growing, global organization
- 2+ years of experience managing US benefits administration including plan design, file feed maintenance, payroll coordination, and direct employee support
- 2+ years of experience managing day-to-day leaves of absence, including experience with vendor management, integrated pay, and direct employee support
- Strong knowledge of employment law including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, COBRA, FLSA, and related state and federal regulations
- Experience conducting high-volume onboarding
- Experience with ATS and HRIS workflows and optimization; familiarity with Greenhouse Recruiting, Greenhouse Onboarding, and ADP Workforce Now preferred but not required
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and problem-solve with minimal direction
- Ability to foster effective, trusting cross-functional relationships and partnerships, with both internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Impeccable discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Strong attention to detail and highly-organized
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
