Core Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer on the Customer Success team, you will be the critical link between MotherDuck's customers and our product and engineering organizations. Your primary focus will be driving customer success and satisfaction through a deep understanding of user needs and pain points.
In this highly collaborative role, you will:
Work closely with customers to uncover their unique challenges and requirements
Partner cross-functionally with product, engineering, and design teams to influence the roadmap and deliver tailored solutions
Propose and implement creative, bespoke answers to meet complex customer needs
Guide customers through the implementation and adoption of MotherDuck's products
Synthesize customer feedback and learnings to inform future product development
You are a seasoned engineer with strong technical chops, capable of executing engineering initiatives independently. Importantly, you are also an exceptional communicator and problem-solver, comfortable operating in ambiguous, iterative environments. You thrive on close collaboration with customers, engineers, product managers, and designers.
Requirements
Vast understanding and hands-on experience with analytics databases, BI tools, and data processing technologies
Expert-level SQL knowledge and proficiency in data modeling and architecture
Deep expertise across various data management paradigms, including OLAP, OLTP, data lake, and HTAP
Experience working with database connectors and drivers like JDBC, ODBC, and SQLAlchemy
Track record of success in a highly technical, customer-facing role
Proven ability to architect and deliver custom technical solutions for customers
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage directly with customers
Comfort operating in ambiguous environments and executing independently
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Data Engineer, or in a similar technical role
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Nice to haves, but definitely not deal breakers
Experience with Python, dbt, and other data engineering tools
Background in building outbound engineering or technical sales organizations
Familiarity with developing data tool connectors and understanding data file format internals (Parquet, etc.)
Practical end-to-end data pipeline development experience
